Dr. Abbey published an article titled “Tips for Repositioning Three-Piece IOLs” in the January/February issue of Retina Today. An intraocular lens (IOL) is an artificial lens implanted in the eye as part of treatment for cataracts or myopia. In the article, Dr. Abbey discusses his preferred technique of using a sutureless intrascleral (SIS) fixation to help ensure well-centered and secure placement of three-piece intraocular lenses (IOL). He has found that this technique maximizes efficiency and simplicity in eyes without adequate capsular support for IOL placement, particularly dislocated three-piece IOLs.
