It is with bittersweet emotion that we announce the retirement of Rand Spencer, MD, from Texas Retina Associates effective December 31, 2022. He has been caring for patients at our practice since 1984.
“I have never tired of going to the office to see patients, and I feel I have developed enduring friendships with many of them,” shared Dr. Spencer. “It has been an honor and privilege to be entrusted as a personal physician for so many.”
Passionate about research to uncover new and better retina treatment options, Dr. Spencer will continue working on the board of directors of the Retina Foundation of the Southwest, where he has been involved as an administrator, researcher, and board member since 1990. He also plans to work on a part-time basis with the residents and retina fellows in training at UT Southwestern Medical School.
“Dr. Spencer has dedicated his life’s work to serving others and saving vision,” shared Texas Retina Associates CEO Jeff Brockette. “He has been an integral part of our practice and will be missed by our entire team. Through his research and education efforts, he will no doubt continue to contribute to the advancement of retina care in our community.”
Over the years, Dr. Spencer has also earned the trust and respect of his Texas Retina Associates physician partners.
“Dr. Spencer has been such an important part of Texas Retina,” said Lori E. Coors, MD. “For many years, he was our only physician who cared for the unique retina needs of pediatric patients, and he has always brought great skill and compassion to his work. We wish him all the best in retirement.”
Texas Retina Associates thanks Dr. Spencer for his commitment and service. If you are one of his patients, please know that we are here to ensure a seamless transition to one of our other retina specialists in the office most convenient to you so that you do not experience any care, coverage or claims issues.
