On Saturday, March 15, 2025, Texas Retina’s Rajiv Anand, MD, partnered with Matthew E. Emanuel, MD, of Glaucoma Associates of Texas, to help educate members of the Semones Family YMCA in North Dallas about basic eye health. He shared information about several retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic eye disease, and flashes and floaters.

Dr. Anand serves on the board of directors of the Semones Family YMCA, where he is also a longtime member.

“I’ve been a member of the Y over the last 30 years, and my children have grown up with all the wonderful sports and cultural activities the Y offers,” shares Dr. Anand. “Once I joined the board, I was amazed at how much of the local community the Y involves – from the West Dallas families to the Preston Hollow crowd. Not only do they offer a complete gym, swimming, and free childcare to the members, it is a refuge for children – a safe place and learning environment. The Y’s outreach also extends to senior health, cancer recovery, the angel tree, and summer camps for children. A lot of the services are free for folks who cannot afford them. It is my privilege and honor to be part of the board and of the greater community of the Y.”
