Texas Retina’s Nikisha Kothari, MD, recently participated in a new podcast released by the New Retina Radio Journal Club and Vit-Buckle Society. In it, she discusses research published earlier this year in JAMA Ophthalmology that assessed the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in non-diabetic patients who have been taking metformin.
In the podcast, Dr. Kothari and fellow panelist Matt Starr, MD, from the Mayo Clinic, sat down with moderator Rebecca Soares, MD, to review the decade-long case-control study. They discuss whether the study’s blind spots undercut its findings and what other questions further research could answer.
